620 Tower Street
As the first real office of Vernacular Studio, this place will always hold a special place in our hearts...
The building had been a house, a photo processing lab, and even a storage shed for a random collection of metal patio furniture. When our leasing agent first brought us by we thought he had lost his mind (he kept repeating the word 'potential'). The interior was in utter disrepair and we said there was no way we could tackle such a messy clean up project. So we looked around Raleigh for a few more weeks only to discover that rent was ridiculously expensive every other place we could find. After exhausting just about all other options, we came back to Tower St. one last time. That's when we fell in love with this dilapidated labor of love. We spent countless hours working it into shape and making it fit for our studio to call home. After months of working on the building while simultaneously running the studio, we finally called the project complete.
