The owners of this late 50's split level wished to modernize their cooking, dining, and sleeping quarters without compromising the clean-lined midcentury aesthetic found throughout the neighborhood. Two 225 SF additions were added to the back of the house - one which contains an open plan kitchen and dining area; the other, a master bedroom. The two additions feature floor to ceiling glazing, opening up views to the private and well-landscaped backyard. A concrete patio literally connects the two volumes, creating what feels like another living room - outdoors.

Previously unfinished, the basement level was completed, divided into two functionally-specific halves. The street-side is the front entrance for the owner's home office while the den opens up to a screened porch beneath the master bedroom.
